Communications Manager, Google Cloud (English, Arabic)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in PR, media, or communications with technology communications, including enterprise hardware or software.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Arabic fluently.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience driving campaigns in several markets that carry cultural differences and languages.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and local technology landscape.
  • Ability to work with colleagues in various geographies.
  • Ability to maintain media relationships with local business and technology press.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trending topics and issues.
  • Excellent project management skills.

About the job

As a member of the Google Cloud Communications team, you will collaborate with other cross-functional teams to communicate with journalists and thought leaders, develop specific communications materials and devise thought leadership campaigns. You’ll understand the power of Google’s Cloud products and tell the story of how we help our customers innovate. You’ll engage in face-to-face meetings with internal executives and external opinion formers, and develop print and web-based materials supporting these campaigns.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally to communicate our business, customer, partner and corporate stories to the media. You will work closely with each country’s Sales Leadership, Marketing, Policy, Legal and other Google Public Relation (PR) team members. You will tell cloud stories in a variety of venues, including tech, business, vertical, and channel press. In addition, you will adapt and localize global news, create press releases and blog posts, develop a pipeline of local announcements and opportunities across the region, and manage agencies to deliver strategic media coverage. You will collaborate with executives from across the organization, and interact with executives at our customers and partners.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders-and our own employees-about the benefits of Google’s products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Build a pipeline of local announcements and activities, including customer and partner announcements, in each country of responsibility, in alignment with the business and geographical priorities.
  • Work closely with agencies to build the profile for regional and local market leaders, focusing on thought leadership.
  • Develop strategies for announcements as well as longer term plans in coordination with local PR and social media teams.
  • Work closely with global, regional and country-based Communications, Sales, Marketing and Policy teams to develop communications materials, with a focus on building placements in digital and traditional media outlets across the markets.
  • Manage press operations for Google Cloud, including press events and briefings, as well as educational efforts to reach business and technology press. Prepare company spokespeople for press opportunities and events, staff media interviews.
