WSP is currently searching for an accomplished and experienced professional to join our team as an Associate VT Engineering.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified and time served Elevator and Escalator engineer and shall possess at least 12+ years’ experience in designing vertical transportation systems for buildings including experience as a consultant. The successful applicant shall be fully conversant with the EN81 suite of codes and standards with working knowledge of the ASME A17.1.
Your new role, what’s involved?
- Have recently worked for a Vertical Transportation (VT) design and supervision consultancy designing VT systems on projects in the built environment.
- Proficient in Traffic analysis and the use of software dedicated to understanding and identifying elevator performance.
- To produce efficient VT solutions for the client.
- Responsible to produce technical reports to illustrate the design to the client and his representatives.
- Responsible for the site supervision services and acceptance testing of complex VT installations liaising with where necessary, local authorities, third party inspectors and the Client representatives.
- Responsible for the specialist contractor site submittal review of all VT material for approval, including shop drawings, as-built drawings, method statements, O&M, sample submittal, testing and handing over, warranty, training documents.
- Responsible for the coordination of IT, Telecom, ELV, Security, with regard to the VT installation
- Responsible for attending where necessary, coordination meetings with the VT supplier, and specialist subcontractors to ensure that the intended design is implemented and for any site related issues and concerns.
- Shall coordinate with the main contractor/consultant project engineer for any site related issues and concerns.
- Shall prepare VT weekly progress report and submit it to the project manager.
- Review of site progress with supplier supervisors to ensure that all the problems are tackled effectively and the work progress is as per schedule.
- Liaison and coordination with all applicable Local Authority Departments and stakeholders to obtain approval at all stages of the project.
- Coordination with other Discipline Engineers (Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical) as applicable
- Participation in design review/clarification meetings and workshops.
- Preparation of meeting records, design review and design progress reports.
- Liaise with VT suppliers to ensure adherence to standards and scope of works required by client.

Key Qualifications and soft skills:
- Excellent leadership skills
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering desirable but not essential.
- Minimum of 12 years of proven experience in VT design and installation, testing, and commissioning, training and handing over project works.
- Must have excellent communication and interfacing skills.
- To work at site (Flexible hours) as per job requirement.
- Working Knowledge on AutoCAD, Revit, Operating system/ associated program
- Expert knowledge of all applicable VT Codes and Standards
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external contacts
- Ability to manage multiple reviews and deadlines
- Responsive to changing demands
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals
- Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
- Extensive knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures
- Strong organizational skills ability to plan and schedule work
