Role Purpose:
This role is required to provide operational management of all Data Centres (both colocation & in-house) and Equipment Rooms across the MENAT Region with the responsibility to maintain the integrity of Data Centre services in support of both IT Hardware and our people. It includes accountability for the continuous operation, evolution of the infrastructure and floor management practices. A strong interface and relationship management with the Corporate Services, wider infrastructure, Physical Security and colocation vendor teams is required.

Focus is on operating and maintaining the uptime of the critical environments on a 24/7/365 basis ensuring minimal disruption to service due to infrastructure failure. The role will provide leadership, technical support and motivation across the MENAT Region and be responsible for the adoption of the highest standards and best practice throughout the facilities.

Additionally, the role is responsible for the operational alignment and project implementation across the MENAT Region, working closely with the project teams and providing project support and using expert knowledge to advise on solutions to meet individual country needs.

•    The role holder will be responsible for managing ongoing risks and issues, representing these at Regional and Global Risk forums function to ensure the correct lines of defense are put in place and reviewed on an ongoing basis.
•    HSBC Data Centres are major sites which include highly sensitive and critical data processing areas, office areas and complex engineering systems. As part of CTO infrastructure, the Data Centre Infrastructure Manager forms part of the Data Centre Operations (DCO) team that have technical and specialist skills to ensure that the critical engineering services are operated, maintained and constantly upgraded as technology advances.
•    The team oversees all IT Infrastructure, electrical and mechanical installation, alteration and maintenance work to support the highly sensitive and critical processing and engineering areas. This will either be an in house team under functional management or an external team provided through Corporate Services where close relationship management is required. Work is completed promptly to current standards, regulations and statutory requirements. Utilising technical details provided by manufacturers, the job holder improves their skill base level and ensures the application of this through their team’s delivery of work tasks
•    To avoid any service outages which could impact HSBC IT Operations, a very high degree of diverse support is required at all times. The job holder ensures that the supporting teams always maintain essential environmental conditions and make fast and accurate assessments of issues without reference to line management.
•    The importance of the services supported by the Data Centres dictates that the work undertaken within the processing areas is performed under relevant change control procedures as required and is managed to reduce the risk of any Impact to the business. It is crucial that works in these areas is completed in a proficient manner, which contributes to maintaining the Integrity of services at all times.

Duties & Responsibilities

•    24/7/365 Operational management of the Data Center Infrastructure, with a focus on technical, operational, mechanical and electrical resilience.
•    Physical security and access control of the Data Centers and equipment rooms across all Data Centre, Head offices, branch and campus locations where data centers and equipment rooms are located.
•    Laser focus on Change Management, coordinating and managing safe changes to infrastructure, with strict adherence to HSBC controls.
•    Accountable for meeting Data Centre Operations health dashboard with the required evidence
•    Close collaboration with internal and external parties to uphold the integrity of the Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure.
•    Provide technical support during Incidents and subsequently to Problem Management across MENAT.
•    Floor Management along with provision of power, space and cooling.
•    Ensure the right technical expertise is selected for project management and/or operational support (e.g. cabling, relocation vendors).
•    Oversee and manage regional projects (new data centers, relocations & demises).
•    Provide financial planning for capital and operational expenses to Head of Service Operations / Regional Head Data Centre Operations.
•    Governance of tape/media inventory & movement.
•    Deliver Energy saving Initiatives in line with HSBC’s Net-Zero ambitions.
•    Provide Data Centre related guidance to teams across MENAT
•    Accountable for Data Centre controls compliance across MENAT
•    Deliver all aspects of data center infrastructure related to projects
•    Provide technical, project management, operational support, across teams.
•    Participate as part of the country and region management team.
•    Effectively manage all staff & external parties within the data centers and equipment rooms and ensure they adhere to HSBC guidelines.
•    Work effectively as part of a team to drive projects and meet goals.
•    Engage with all required CTO infrastructure representatives.
•    Ensure policy, procedures and standards of conduct are communicated, understood and appropriately implemented.
•    Monitor compliance to policies, procedures and standards of conduct ensuring assurance.
•    To continually reassess the operational risks taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
•    Work with the regional Regulatory and Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions and policies and external regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

•    Graduation degree is required– to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
•    Data Centre Infrastructure including Mechanical and Electrical Management – 1 year
