JOB TITLE: Deputy Manager – HSE Design

  • Lead the Oil and Gas project for delivering HSE design basis, Fire Protection / F&G philosophies, firefighting equipment specifications, P&ID, layouts, datasheets, hazardous area schedule, fireproofing schedule, fire & gas mapping, F&G layout, F&G Cause & Effects, firewater hydraulics, surge analysis, fire water pump sizing, deluge / spray system design, gas suppression system, water mist system, safety and life-saving equipment etc.
  • Organize and participate in workshops such as HAZID, ENVID, OHID, HAZOP, RAM, SIL, Bow-Tie, SCE PS, ALARP, PHSER, SIMOPS.
  • Provide input on spacing, building locations, fireproofing needs, blast requirements, sterile distance, stack/vent height, Hazardous Area Classification, Fire and Gas detector locations, safety equipment.
  • Collaborate with other discipline and other work centre engineers to ensure HSE requirements and study recommendations are integrated into the project design.
  • Prepare/review inquiry requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase requisitions for specialized studies, as well as safety and firefighting equipment.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory authorities, consultants conducting specialized studies, third-party certifying agencies, consortium partners, subcontractors, other discipline engineers, and the project team.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure design activities are completed within allocated manhours and deadlines.
  • Arrange and participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning of fire protection and safety systems.
  • Assist with construction and commissioning field queries by providing justification notes and calculations.
  • Review and approve vendor documents, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Participate in cross-functional and inter-office meetings to provide design inputs to the engineering team.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project stages.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with over 15 years of experience in loss prevention and process safety within an EPC company.
  • Expertise in designing firewater systems, F&G systems, fireproofing, hazardous area classification, and managing safety studies and environmental reports during FEED/Detailed Design for the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in software such as PHAST/FRED, SAFETI, Bow-Tie, Flaresim, Detect3D, Pipenet, ExSILentia, PHAPro, Soundplan, and AERMOD.
  • Experience with Major International Oil and Gas Companies and National Oil Companies
  • Strong knowledge of international safety standards and practices.
  • Excellent presentation, training, and communication skills for engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
