Job Description Summary

The Commercial Controller for GE Engine Services APAC and EMEA regions, is an integral member within the Controllership team supporting the overall mission to provide timely, high quality financial reporting for use in the GE Engine Services business. Responsible for ensuring technical accounting compliance, strengthening financial and operational internal controls, and driving process simplification to achieve operational excellence. Leads efforts to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis, enabling data-driven decision-making. Interprets internal and external accounting standards to provide strategic guidance to the commercial organization on deal structuring for new business opportunities and restructuring activities. Proactively recommends best practices to optimize products, processes, and services while staying ahead of industry trends to influence and enhance organizational performance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Policy Compliance and Technical Support:
    • Enforce accounting policies through interpretation of US GAAP and GE policies.
    • Provide technical accounting guidance to finance and operations teams, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, GE General Accounting Procedures (GE GAPs), GE Enterprise Standards, Standard Operating Procedures, and Process Maps.
    • Deliver timely, high-quality financial reporting, including documentation of conclusions in memos, summaries, or other agreed formats.
  • Commercial and Contractual Support:
    • Assist sales, commercial, and risk teams with contractual support, ensuring accounting compliance and driving Lean principles across these organizations.
    • Proactively identify and communicate potential downstream impacts of commercial actions, including process risks, complexity, and future financial risks.
  • Strategic Influence and Decision-Making:
    • Influence the development of strategy around technical and operational accounting, including resource allocation and policy formulation.
    • Use high-level judgment to assess complex tasks or problems, offering innovative solutions and recommendations outside of set parameters.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to arrive at informed decisions, leveraging multiple sources of information.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in GE Aerospace Commercial, Finance, and Risk teams across APAC and EMEA regions.
    • Clearly communicate with sales, commercial, and risk teams about potential commercial actions, documenting the basis and evidence supporting financial reporting outcomes.
  • Leadership and Project Management:
    • Lead commercial functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
    • Guide others to consider alternative perspectives or solutions, effectively communicating difficult concepts.
  • Audit and Compliance Support:
    • Support accounting and auditing processes, including collaboration with external and internal auditors.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university or college
  • Significant experience in the Finance & Technical Accounting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Comfortable to execute through uncertainty
