The American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites applications from qualified Master’s degree holders for a Full-Time Lecturer position in the College of Security and Global Studies.
Academic Semester: Fall 2026–2027
Areas of Specialization
The successful candidate will teach one or more of the following areas:
- International Relations
- Political Science
- Security
Instruction Language: English
Teaching Load: 15 credit hours per semester
Job Purpose
Responsible for providing students with professional expertise in teaching, assessing student work, academic advising, participating in administrative and committee activities, professional service, and community engagement.
Qualifications & Education
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, Strategic Studies, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Ability to teach undergraduate-level courses in the relevant discipline.
- Strong academic and professional background in the field.
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience at an accredited higher education institution or relevant professional experience in government, diplomacy, international organizations, security, intelligence, or related sectors.
- Experience in undergraduate teaching and student engagement.
- Industrial and professional experience (recommended min 5 years).
- Experience with learning management systems and educational technologies is preferred.

- Instructional Delivery (Teaching Performance)
- Deliver research-informed and practice-oriented teaching.
- Apply contemporary pedagogical approaches that encourage critical thinking, inquiry, and student engagement.
- Develop and implement appropriate learning activities and assessments aligned with course learning outcomes.
- Instructional Management
- Effectively manage all instructional processes and classroom activities.
- Maintain course documentation and academic records in accordance with University policies.
- Assessment and Evaluation
- Evaluate student performance and assign grades fairly and consistently.
- Provide clear assessment criteria aligned with course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Offer timely and constructive feedback to support student learning and development.
- Curriculum Development and Review
- Contribute to the continuous review and enhancement of curriculum content and delivery.
- Ensure curriculum quality, relevance, academic rigor, and alignment with industry and disciplinary developments.
- Professional Development
- Participate in workshops, seminars, conferences, and training programs to maintain professional and disciplinary expertise.
- Stay current with developments in higher education, teaching methodologies, and the field of specialization.
- Academic Advising and Student Success
- Provide academic advising and guidance to students regarding program requirements, academic progression, and career pathways.
- Support student retention, engagement, and academic achievement initiatives.
- Service
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and activities.
- Contribute to accreditation, recruitment, outreach, and community engagement initiatives.
