Specialist – Ophthalmology
Full – Job Description
- Ensures that Ophthalmological care rendered meets DoH standards.
- Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Participates in review/study of
difficult and special cases.
- Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure that DoH Standards are met.
- Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of ophthalmology.
- Available for consultation after working hours
- Coordinates with the HOD in planning programs integrating the curative and preventive aspects of
total patient care
- Participates in the implementation of approved curative/preventive programs as
they relate to Ophthalmology.Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing & ancillary staff.
- Participates in committees as requested by the Medical Director.
- Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to
infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by the HOD.
- Participates in quality related activities programs as requested by the Medical Director.
- Orients new staff when requested to do so.
- Communicates regularly with HOD and other members of the service.

Qualifications
- At least 3 – 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
- At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
- Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
- Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
- Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration e.g. Membership from Royal College / Arab Board Certification / MS / DM / MPhil or an equivalent recognised by relevant healthcare authority in UAE
