Accountant

What this role involves:

Join our established chartered surveying firm in Dubai as an Accountant within our Shared Services department. As a qualified and experienced professional, you will play a vital role in providing financial and operational support to the company. You will be responsible for management and financial reporting, budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting, and more. Experience with external audits and familiarity with accounting principles and international financial reporting standards are essential. Key responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate and timely management information.
  • Perform financial analysis and finalise year-end processes and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Review monthly trial balance and internal control processes.
  • Familiarity with international taxation laws in the GCC region is a plus.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial and management reporting.
  • Oversee month-end closing activities and maintain general ledger.
  • Analyse results against targets and provide variance analysis.
  • Engage and manage external consultants and ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with department heads to address concerns or issues.
  • Supervise tax compliance and cash flow management.
  • Assist in the development of tools, systems, and architecture to provide critical and timely financial and operational information.
  • Implement and maintain effective risk management procedures.
  • Ensure the maintenance and communication of appropriate and effective internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports.

Key skills and requirements:

  • Degree in accountancy with CA/CPA qualification.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and demonstrate strong teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated adherence to ethical standards, honesty, integrity, and respect for others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Familiarity with international taxation laws in the GCC region is a plus.
  • Meticulous with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good business acumen and adaptability.
  • Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
