Job Description

The position of Communications Manager is an integral part of the GM Middle East Communications team. Area of coverage ranges from corporate, internal, to product & services. It requires expertise in the field of public relations, communications and all its mediums including but not limited to traditional print & broadcast, to digital & social media influencer & content centric executions. The role will be part of an integrated marketing & sales apparatus, with required ongoing collaboration with various members of other functions and departments to deliver high performance, high impact communications campaigns that engage the public as well as colleagues inside GM.

This role is never stagnant, and will require an adaptable, accountable, creative individual that can think strategic, innovate, can work as part of a multi-cultural team to elevate the brands among their competition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead GM MEO brand & product communications strategy.
  • Lead GM MEO global brand positioning for assigned brands & services
  • Communications and international brand positioning for assigned brands & services.
  • Develop and lead communications strategy for all GM Middle East [assigned brands & services[ related initiatives including auto shows, marketing campaigns, vehicle launches, customer events, etc.
  • Develop and lead creative GM Middle East communications strategies and plans to complement [assigned brands & services] related initiatives.
  • Act as GM MEO [assigned brands & services] custodian & support spokesperson for all brand, product, marketing, quality, and safety initiatives.
  • Overall responsibility to deliver a gold-standard communications output.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the GM organization, regional and global communications teams that help deliver an aligned and high-performance Communication effort with excellence.
  • Responsible for building strong relationships with key external opinion leaders including media and other third parties to establish credibility for GM & assigned brands & services, its leadership, brands, and products.
  • Be available and willing at all times in case of crisis.
  • Develop KPIs for measuring communications [assigned brands & services] initiatives across GM MEO
  • Drive consistency and standards in communications across GM MEO in relation to [assigned brands & services]
  • Oversee and manage GM MEO [assigned brands & services] communications budget.

Knowledge/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree+ or equivalent with emphasis on communications, marketing, or journalism.
  • Understanding of automotive business is helpful.

Skills:

  • Experience, high level, and confidence in dealing with senior executives; ability to provide solid counsel related to communications strategy and execution with all key stakeholders.
  • Crisis communications experience: high level of analytical ability where issues/challenges are unusual, difficult, and often ambiguous.
  • Excellent language skills (English mandatory)
  • Self-initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in all communications-related areas.
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to ensure a sound basis of long-term relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in the communications field.
  • Experience in public relations role, preferably in an “account management” position.
  • Possess proven media & social media influencer relations.
  • Proven communications management and social media communications skills.
  • Proven record of managing media and events.
  • Proven ability to handle “live” media interviews and related media interface.
  • Budget/fiscal management skills a plus.
