Electrician – Switch Gear
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Switch Gear Electrician to handle the installation, assembly, wiring, and testing of LV/MV/HV switch gear panels. The role involves both preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, and testing of electrical systems and components. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with local and international standards while adhering to health and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, wire, and test LV/MV/HV switch gear panels.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on switch gear equipment.
- Troubleshoot faults and perform diagnostics on electrical switch gear systems.
- Test protection relays (Eaton, ABB, Siemens, Schneider, etc.) and perform relay coordination.
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics and layout drawings.
- Conduct insulation resistance, contact resistance, high voltage, and other diagnostic tests.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards (DEWA, SEWA, ADNOC, IEC, etc.).
- Follow all health and safety procedures at project sites and in the workshop.
- Prepare reports on maintenance activities and test results.
Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in switch gear operations (LV/MV/HV).
- Familiarity with brands like ABB, Siemens, Schneider, GE, etc.
- Experience with protection relays, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, and bus bars.
- Knowledge of local utility standards (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, FEWA).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
