IT Systems & Network Administrator

Permanent contract /Location: Abu Dhabi

Currently we have 1x L1 and no support on upper levels, roles that are normally done by me, alongside my manager responsibilities. To mitigate this within the shortest delays, especially now that more and more Students and partnerships are being introduced, I am proposing to incorporate into a single position L2 (systems) & L3 (infrastructure) and having the ground L1 skill set to also be capable of backing up our L1 member if needed.

Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNT, Microsoft 365 Administrator, or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Infrastructure:

  • Manage and optimize campus network infrastructure, focusing on enterprise level switches, routers, wireless access points, firewall and dashboards to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
  • Respond to and manage incoming support tickets, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Proactively monitor network health, perform wireless troubleshooting and analysis, and implement security best practices using enterprise dashboards.
  • Provide expert knowledge of network management tools.
  • Implement and refine security measures, including access controls and endpoint protection.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
  • Respond to and manage incoming support tickets, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Conduct network surveying to assess Wi-Fi coverage, performance, and infrastructure needs.
  • Assist in evaluating and integrating new networking technologies, protocols, and hardware.
  • Research and recommend network improvements, including upgrades to LAN, WAN, and cloud networks.
  • Train employees on network best practices, security policies, and safe data handling procedures.
  • Oversee uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, conducting regular maintenance and resolving power-related issues to ensure operational continuity.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT.
  • Hands-on technical experience in network administration, troubleshooting, switching, and routing.
  • Proven ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Strong background in large-scale network management and enterprise-level troubleshooting.
  • Experience at different levels of IT support (L1, L2, L3).
  • Strong experience with Cisco Meraki networking equipment.
  • Experience with classroom connectivity and AV systems.
  • Solid experience with conference room products (Logitech).
  • Experience with computer labs.
  • Mobile device management experience and knowledge of Apple and Microsoft systems.

Knowledge and Skills:

Technical:

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs).
  • Familiarity with Cisco Meraki switches, access points, firewalls and dashboards.
  • Proficiency in network and systems security principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of online security, cybersecurity and firewalling is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of systems administration, including:
  • Canon Cloud Print configuration and management.
  • Office 365 tenant administration (user management, security, troubleshooting).
  • Moodle administration (eLearning platform management, user support).
  • POS systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Door access control system management.
  • UPS systems and power management.

  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
