Emirates NBD, the leading Banking Group in the MENAT region, was formed on 19 June 1963, when H.H. Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum signed the Charter of Incorporation of the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) which became the first National Bank established in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With the blessings of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on 06 March 2007, to form Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the region by assets. On 16 October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). The Role
Group Legal’s mandate is to manage legal risk in line with the Bank’s appetite (as defined by the Board, ExCo and senior management) and to provide legal advice & support to the Group.
The purpose of this role is to provide legal support (whilst also receiving training) in managing legal risk specifically for the Group’s activities across Group Legal.
On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for:
- Supporting members of management as Legal Officer.
- Drafting and disseminating template legal contracts and providing training to stakeholders on their implementation.
- Review, draft, implement & monitor policies, processes & procedures pertaining to the legal support to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in projects and ad-hoc matters assigned to the job holder by the Group General Counsel or team leadership.
- Participating in any group wide training rotation program designed to extend skills across all Group Legal functions
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:
- Bachelors Degree with specialization in Law
- LLB/LLM holder and/or post graduate Diploma in Legal practice
- Certified & qualified Solicitor/Lawyer
- Ability to distil and communicate simple advice in an understandable manner
- Strong Oral & Written communication in English and Arabic
