Multimedia Journalist – Social Media

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Multimedia Journalist to join Sky News Arabia’s Digital & Social Media team. The role focuses on producing original, engaging, and market-leading stories tailored for social-first platforms. You will be responsible for digital storytelling across multiple formats, with strong skills in filming, editing, and editorial judgment. The position requires knowledge of digital production, content management systems, and adherence to Sky News Arabia’s editorial standards. This is a shift-based role, covering weekdays, weekends, and night shifts, to support our 24/7 news operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Filming & Directing:
  1. Film social-first content, interviews, and field reports using professional cameras.
  2. Apply creative framing, camera movement, and lighting setups to enhance storytelling.
  3. Direct shoots with presenters and guests to achieve both editorial and visual goals.

      

• Editing & post-production:
  1. Execute full video editing workflows including cutting, sequencing, graphics, and sound design.
  2. Adapt content for multiple social media formats (vertical, square, wide).
  3. Ensure consistency in quality and visual identity across all productions.

      

• Editorial Contribution:
  1. Develop story ideas and editorial angles for social media content.
  2. Write, review, and adapt scripts to align with Sky News Arabia’s editorial standards.
  3. Balance strong journalism with engaging visuals to appeal to digital audiences.

      

• Creative & Artistic Vision:
  1. Contribute to the overall creative direction of social media content.
  2. Innovate with new storytelling techniques using visuals, audio, and graphics.
  3. Monitor digital content trends and apply best practices for audience engagement.

Key Skills, Experience and Education

• 3–5 years of experience in digital journalism, multimedia production, or visual storytelling.
• Proficiency in professional camera systems and editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or equivalent).
• Strong editorial background with proven experience in content creation for news or social-first platforms.
• Demonstrated creative vision in visual storytelling and content direction.
• Deep understanding of social media platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
