Strategic Insights Lead

What this position is about – Purpose

The incumbent working closely with the Marketing Director, will lead the SI function and act as a key advisor in the commercial planning process (CR, ASP) with forecasting models and scenario building to drive JTI’s business sustainability.

You will lead on reporting volume/SOM gaps, identifying and harnessing consumer insights to develop brand strategies that outgrows competitors in the cluster including identification of new opportunities in exploratory segments. The incumbent will also closely supervise, monitor, and control the research agencies (e.g., Nielsen, Ipsos, GFK, Symmetry, etc..) to provide accurate and business-related information on consumer and customer trends and behavior, competitive activity, as well as performance of JTI communications and JTI brands. You will act as an in-market sound platform for learnings on Marketing & Sales programs and activities and will drive optimal knowledge sharing to the Marketing & Sales functions and Strategic Insights Head Quarter.

What will you do – Responsibilities:

  • Close collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure a focus on M&S function’s information (insight and intelligence) needs.
  • In conjunction with the Head Quarter Research Group and local research agencies initiate and develop research projects to provide information on consumer needs/profiles/behaviors (general and at POC), segmentation dynamics, channel and trade characteristics as well as equity of JTI brands
  • Initiate management summaries with conclusions and recommendations on actions to take to build JTI brands – based on Retail Audit Data, IMS, Consumer Trackers, Incidence reports.
  • Monitor the emerging medium to long-term trends among target smokers, selected channels and the retail environment – use this knowledge to generate insight and intelligence for the Portfolio & Brand Strategy Group to formulate future strategies on existing and potential new brands/products or trade/channel strategies and monitor constantly competitive activities aimed at the consumer or the trade
  • Ensure continuous follow-up and sound analysis of consumer, shopper, competitive and trade data, as well as analyze pricing strategy and indexing of competitive Brands and implications on JTI strategy
  • Manage various additional ad hoc research and regional M&S / SI and projects as they arise

Whom are we looking for – Requirements:

  • University Degree in Marketing, Business Management, Finance or Economics
  • 7-10 years of experience in International Company in FMCG Marketing & Sales function
  • Strategic Insight experience would be of an advantage
  • Strong project management skills with high complexity and multitasking
  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent English (required), Arabic a plus
