Superintendent Piping
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Overview:
Supervises and coordinates the execution of piping installation and testing in accordance with Work Face Planning and established schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- • Forecasts and budgets the cost center within the department
• Studies productions schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists supervisors and foremen in solving work problems
• Approves personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions
• Confers with other supervisors in order to coordinate activities of individual departments
• Adopts company health, safety and environmental programs and ensures implementation
• Ensures that company objectives, policies, programs, and procedures are consistently adhered to
• Uses available reports to manage project scope and ensure the appropriate steps are taken to build the project successfully in the field
• Understands and supports in the development of the detailed Project Schedule and Progress Reports
• Participates in business development and preconstruction activities as directed
• Emphasizes a culture of safety throughout the project and ensures the safety plan is executed relentlessly
• Ensures project control activities and costs are managed daily and that appropriate actions are taken to ensure consistent deliverables and a successful project execution. Demonstrates business acumen within area of responsibility. Understands the change management process
• Completes all daily reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner
• Conducts risk management analysis daily working with project leaders to ensure timely mitigation and documentation
• Oversees, directs, and coordinates manpower, equipment, material, and subcontract activities in accordance with the project schedule
• Oversees, directs, and coordinates the pipe & valve testing and handover to completions
• Ensures the material management plan is followed as well as any change control processes
• Understands and supports in the development of the detailed schedule for specific areas of responsibility
• Ensures scheduling, sequencing of activities and all changes are incorporated, developed, controlled, managed and communicated as required and actions are taken to ensure timely execution
• Assists in or conducts review of design and shop drawings in support of the RFI review process
• Manages Quality Control and Safety responsibilities for areas of responsibility including subcontractor coordination and oversight
• Ensures the quality management plan is followed and verifies the quality of work being installed meets and/or exceeds expectations
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Over 15 years experience within the Energy & Petrochemical Industry through all phases of EPCI project delivery
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience and in-depth experience in large bore piping installation and pressure test
- Extensive knowledge in planning and installation of piping
- Knowledge of all phases of construction operations – field engineering, construction technologies, and jobsite management.
- Understanding of Critical Path Scheduling basics
- Understand of processes of pipe & valve testing and handover to completions
- Ability to work as a team member as well as team leader.
- Have wide experience with technical activities, including on and offshore operations.
- Time management and organization skills with strong attention to detail/follow-up
- Computer literate on Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, Project.
- Self-motivated, self-reliant and able to operate independently, while exercising good independent judgement and decision-making.
