Tax Manager – Group TAX
About the Role
The purpose of this role is to assist Central Tax Team (‘CTT’) in all Group tax matters (direct & indirect) covering all countries covered under GEMS Education, such as:
- Corporate Tax and International tax matters;
- M&A deals;
- Tax structuring;
- Transfer Pricing;
- UAE VAT (10%-20%);
- Tax compliances
- Tax audits and assessments
Key Accountabilities:
Assist the CTT with tax matters for the group across all geographies:
- Implementation of corporate tax and Global Minimum Tax with the relevant support from external tax advisors (CTR, Transfer Pricing, CbCR and ESR).
- Prepare and submit corporate tax and international tax filing and maintain documentation.
- Coordinate with the internal cross functional teams and tax advisors on the ongoing tax assignments of the Group (withholding tax, restructuring, corporate tax).
- Monitor tax compliance for all geographies covered in GEMS Menasa region. Ensure tax compliance trackers are regularly updated across the Group.
- Minimize tax penalties and supporting local teams in handling tax assessments.
- Provide inputs to the IT, finance and accounting teams in relation to tax change implementation in the IT system and FS.
- Monitor changes in the tax environment in order to understand their impact on the group.
- Assist CTT in internal and external audits and to provide necessary information and documentation.
- Assist CTT with ad hoc tasks, information gathering, policy update, training and reporting.
- Assist CTT in compliance with VAT filings, data review, addressing business team or FTA queries for UAE entities.
Qualifications Experience & Skills:
- University degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
- CPA/CA or equivalent essential
- Overall 8-10 years of experience, international taxation and minimum 4 years working in Big 4 environment is essential
- Experience working in the tax function in the Middle East for a large MNC group (preferable)
- Microsoft Excel proficient
- Exhibit interpersonal skills while interacting with cross-functional teams.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work independently, adjust priorities, and work in a continuously changing environment.
